Retired University of St. Thomas Education Professor Dr. Randy Soffer is not resting on his laurels. Instead, he is helping in the Conroe community, where he lives, by teaching valuable Conversational English Classes for Adults.

Twenty-two veterans – some who currently owns a business and wants to strengthen it and others who want to start a new business – joined USTMAX Center at its recent Lunch and Learn on the topic of veteran entrepreneurship.

Four honorees have been chosen to receive the 2021 University of St. Thomas MAX Innovator Awards. Among the winners is Conroe Mayor Jody Czajkoski.

USTMAX Center celebrated its first anniversary on the downtown square in the heart of Conroe, Texas, on Wednesday, Oct. 20. Music, food and 75 people filled the air at the festive, casual, come-and-go gathering.

If you are looking for your first career or want to make a job change to jump into the healthcare field, consider taking classes to become a phlebotomy technician, a clinical medical assistant or a medical billing and coding specialist.

First, you must be a military veteran to attend. Second, the event promises to provide valuable, practical information on how veterans can start their own businesses. And third, the not-to-be-missed gathering will be held at the military-themed Honor Café in Conroe and include complimentary lunch.

Time flies, especially when you’re having fun. So almost before you could turn around, the USTMAX Center is gearing up to celebrate its first anniversary on the downtown square in the heart of Conroe, Texas.

Three winners top the submissions to the first USTMAX Center art competition in collaboration with the Conroe Art League. Art lovers can enjoy the paintings for the next three months as they are displayed inside the natural “gallery” at USTMAX.

“This presentation and conversation will be eminently practical: ‘How can we have better lives and help those closest to us live better lives as well? Teachers and parents play a special role.’”
